Abstract

This article aimed to analyze the informational behavior of professors at the Faculty of Engineering of Ilha Solteira - FEIS / UNESP, addressing the search and use of information in order to know their information needs and the real use that is made of information, since these aspects allow a better understanding of the informational input that teachers use as a teaching tool, which makes it possible to promote means to enhance the effective use of information. For that, a field research of descriptive character and quali-quantitative nature was carried out, using the questionnaire as a technique of data collection. The universe of the research was the professors of FEIS / UNESP, whose sample consisted of 34 individuals from the various departments of the institution. As a result, active, passive, ongoing and passive search behavior was identified, determined by the model of Wilson and Wash (1996). Thus, it was concluded that the search for information is a constant practice in the performance of teachers FEIS / UNESP, which uses it for professional development in its teaching and research activities.
